Vocalis has landed at Saint James Place in the heart of Great Barrington.

Built in 1857, Saint James Place was originally an Episcopal church. The Gothic Revival structure fell to perilous disrepair in 2008, and, due to its dangerous condition, its doors were shuttered. Two years later, former parishioners Sally and Fred Harris stepped in and turned the historic church into a non-profit, multi-use cultural entity. It reopened to the public in 2017.

“Saint James Place has always been a favorite Berkshires landmark,” says Vocalis Artistic Director Julie Bickford. “Vocalis is thrilled to call it our new home.”

“Saint James Place has become a beacon for community involvement and community outreach,” adds Vocalis President Larissa Yaple. “Vocalis shares those principles, and we look forward to extending its message, not only through our music but through the community programs we’re beginning to form.”
